Amma's Dalcha

Ingredients

Grinded nuts - Almonds, cashew nuts and 6 candlenuts
Mutton pieces
Ginger garlic
Water
Salt
Toor dhal - 2 cups
Potato pieces
1 tsp fennel seeds
2 cinnamon sticks broken into 4 pieces
4 staranise broken into halves
2 onions diced
1 bay leaf
Curry leaves
Masala Mix - Fish masala, ginger garlic 1 tsp and water
1 tomato diced
2 tsp salt

Method:

1) In a heavy bottom vessel, add mutton pieces, ginger garlic, water and some salt and cook the mutton until the pieces become almost tender for about 45 minutes.
2) Once the mutton is cooked, add toor dhal and potato pieces. Cook until the dhal and potato becomes soft and tender.
3) In a separate pan, add fennel seeds, cinnamon sticks, staranise, onion, bay leaf and saute well.
4) Add the masala mix and grinded nuts.
5) Add tomato piecesand saute well until the smell of the raw masala mix disappears.
6) Add the 5) mixture into mutton mixture 2).Add 2 tsp salt and let the entire mixture be cooked for 15 minutes.
